One of the most productive things you can do when faced with an interruption is to respond with “let me just.” This allows time for you to properly save what you are working on without completely derailing your train of thought. Work to mentally close what you are doing instead of dropping off. Leave a note of where you left off before pursuing a different topic. Additionally, you can arrange a meeting for later with a potential work distraction. This way, you can focus entirely on one thing at a time.
